2024 Flag Football Info
Our Patriots Flag Football season runs from late July until late early October. We follow a 5 on 5 format that emphasizes the basics of football and ensures participation for all members on the team. Players between the ages of 5-7 years old on or before the cutoff date of August 1st may register for this program. This means if your child turns 8 on August 1st or earlier, unfortunately they are too old to register for flag football.
Practices and Games
The first two weeks of the season we have 2 practices per week. Once games start, practices are 1 day a week, usually on Thursday, from 5:30-7:00 pm. Though we strive to make the practice schedule uniform throughout the year, the day may be subject to change depending on availability of practice fields and coaches’ schedules. Games are held on Saturday or Sunday mornings depending on field availability and potential scheduling conflicts with our tackle football games. This allows parents with players in tackle and flag, coaches who coach teams at both levels, and flag players who simply want to come see our Patriot’s tackle games the ability to do so.
All practices and games are held at Manhattan Jr. with the exception of our playoffs/Super Bowl. This is our one day, end of the season tournament that is held at Lincoln Way West. The players really enjoy this day of competition and the opportunity for all teams to play on the local high school field, with the final game played under the lights.
The exact schedule for our flag season will be out in late June/early July depending on how many participants sign up and how many teams we can field. The Patriots provide flags, jerseys, and one mouthpiece. Players will simply need a water bottle and most choose to wear molded plastic football cleats (no metal spikes).
Costs/Fees
